Khabane "Khaby" Lame is a Senegalese-Italian social media personality who holds the title of the most-followed creator on TikTok, with over 160 million followers. Born in Senegal, he moved to Chivasso, Italy, when he was one year old. Before achieving digital fame, Lame worked as a CNC machine operator at a factory near Turin. After losing his job in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he turned to TikTok to entertain people during the lockdown. His meteoric rise to fame is driven by his unique brand of silent comedy. In his videos, Lame reacts to overly complicated internet "life hacks" by demonstrating the simplest possible solution to the problem. He concludes each video with his iconic, wordless palms-up gesture and an exasperated facial expression. Because his content relies entirely on visual humor and body language rather than spoken language, it easily breaks through global cultural barriers to reach a massive worldwide audience. Beyond his massive social media presence, Lame has transitioned into mainstream entertainment, business, and philanthropy. He officially became a naturalized Italian citizen in August 2022.
